Hey all,
It’s summertime and you know what that means, right? VACAY!!
Yup, we’re leaving tomorrow for lovely Lake Powell. A place without worries or stresses or internet service.
That means that, while we love you all dearly, we won’t be answering any emails or phone calls until we return on July 18th. So, if you have any questions or inquiries, please be patient. We’ll be sure to get back with you as soon as we get home!
Out Of The Office
August 21, 2010 - 10:47 pm - You fail at blogging
Miss Utah – Night 3
On Friday night, Hailee competed in Evening Wear and On-stage Question. She looked gorgeous in her white interview outfit and she gave a great answer when asked what was the biggest challenge facing our schools today.

(p.s. Check out her shoes too. Aren’t they HOT??)

Hailee then competed in Evening Wear. She looked stunning in her red gown and, though I may be biased, I thought she was the most beautiful of the night!

Gorgeous, no?
That wrapped up the prelims. Only one night to go!
Miss Utah – Night 2
On Thursday night, Hailee competed in Swimwear. She wore a white and gold bikini and she ROCKED it!!

Amazing, right??
Last night, Hailee competed in Evening Wear and On-stage Question.
Good news and bad news there.
The good news: I have photos!
The bad news: I didn’t have time to blog them today.
The good news: I promise to blog them tomorrow!! So hang in there for your Hailee fix. Tonight they announce the top ten and then they will crown the winner at the end of the night. Good luck on the last night, Hailee!
Miss Utah – Night 1
Hailee’s group competed in Talent last night and she did awesome! She sang a song called Never Alone and she also played guitar.

Here’s a few shots of Hailee in her production number. Ain’t she cute?!

Tonight Hailee competes in Swimwear. She’s darling and has a rockin’ bod, so I’m sure she’ll do amazing!
Good luck with night 2, Hailee!
Good Luck Hailee!!!
Hailee Childs is our Miss American Fork 2010 and she’s competing for the title of Miss Utah this week. We’re off to four fun-filled nights of pageantry and we know Hailee will do AMAZING!!
She’s already had her judges interview and she will compete in swimwear, talent, and evening wear. The new Miss Utah will be crowned on Saturday night and we think Hailee has a great shot! Good luck, Hailee!! We’ll be cheering for you!
Ryan & Mercedes – Engaged!
Winter is over, spring has arrived, and man, oh man, is there love in the air.
Just check out Ryan and Mercedes. They are engaged!
Duh, right? I’m sure you figured that out by now.
We had such a blast shooting their springtime engagement photos. Shining sun, green grass, and a blossoming orchard?
That sounds like a recipe for hotness.
Aren’t they cute?? We can’t WAIT for their July wedding!

Once we were done in the orchard, we hit the streets and worked the urban vibe.

This is my favorite photo of the whole entire day! I *heart* everything about it.
You do too, right?
We worked some of our new techniques into our shoot with Ryan and Mercedes and I think they turned out pretty awesome!
A different feel, no? We’re loving the variety that off-camera lighting is giving us. It makes for two very happy photographers!

HOWEVER.
These are NOT two happy photographers.
It may not look like it, but that wind is a sneaky little devil and it started to pick up as soon as we busted out the umbrella. I almost blew away. Kind of like Mary Poppins.
Le umbrella decided to self destruct instead.
BUT, the photos turned out so awesome that it was totally worth it. Yay for awesome photos with awesome clients!!
We can totally buy a new umbrella…
Kristian & Kat
Kristian= Insane break dancer, awesome businessman, half Samoan.
Kat = Gets to play with animals all day and gets paid for it, crazy cool personality, and looks just like Flo from the Progressive commercials.
When we told Kat and Kristian we were shooting their portraits in a parking garage, I have a sneaking suspicion they wondered what they had gotten themselves into. (“We’ll be perfectly safe!” we said. “Cars can go around us!”) Hopefully they love the final product as much as we do. Cuz, well…we love it a lot.
(Disclaimer: K & K are not engaged…this is not an e-session. Just portraits of two really cool people.)
(No way on earth could I pose like this without breaking my face. Break dancers are cool like that)

After our shenanigans in the parking garage, we decided to wrap things up in a field at sunset….the most gorgeous time to shoot.
And my favorite image of the day:
May 16, 2010 - 9:10 am - Look at you girls, rocking your One Light knowledge. You've inspired me to practice more. I've not pushed myself as much as I need to. Great work, ladies!
Boston turns 1
Aww I can’t believe my baby is 1!! His party turned out so much fun, exactly what I had envisioned for weeks.
We went with a green, orange and blue theme..(obviously!)
The birthday boy was in a great mood, as usual!
His darling cake was made by the very talented Megan of Zoobie Cakes. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out, and it was deeeeeelish. (We adults may or may not have tasted it after Boston was done smashing. It was so good!)
The cupcake sandwiches (ugh. okay. They are technically called whoopie pies but I kind of detest that name and am open to suggestions on something better to call them?) were made by Staci of The Pink Cupcake. (no website yet, but if you are in need of cupcakes in any shape or form, let me know and I’ll get you her info. She kind of rocks my cupcake world) Also delicious, and look how cute! (note: Staci also hates the name Whoopie Pie, so its not like I’m doggin on her thing here.)
April 29, 2010 - 1:05 pm - I love it, and the pics are GREAT!
April 29, 2010 - 3:50 pm - So stinkin' cute! Would you possibly consider being my kids mom as well?? At this point my kids are lucky I even remember their birthday ;)
April 29, 2010 - 9:57 pm - love the details!!! So happy you didn't do a Disney themed party... Boston is the cutest little guy! I hope to meet him some day!!!
May 19, 2010 - 10:43 am - I love it, and the pics are GREAT!
May 31, 2010 - 1:52 pm - Great pictures! I really like your theme, keeps the focus on the sweet little one not some crazy character, haha. I hopped over here from Kara's blog.
OneLight Workshop
A few weeks ago (okay, like a month, we are behind in the blogging world) we attended the OneLight workshop with the incredibly talented and amazing Zack Arias.
We spend a long, tiring and INSPIRING 17 hours learning the ins and outs of proper lighting. It completely revolutionized the way we handle our lighting…both in studio and on-location.
Note: All following images are completely SOOC (straight out of camera). That means no photoshop, no tricks, what you see is what you get.
Check this out. The before image is natural light. The second is lit with flash. Amazing, no?
We learned so much…Zack is so legit its not even funny.
hello, beautiful light. I love you, even though you’re flash and I used to be afraid of you and not really understand how amazing you could make my images look.
We have already implemented our new lighting setup, and we are seeing an unbelievable change in our images. Stay tuned…we have some awesome stuff coming up!
