Ryan & Mercedes – Engaged!

Winter is over, spring has arrived, and man, oh man, is there love in the air.

Just check out Ryan and Mercedes. They are engaged!

Duh, right? I’m sure you figured that out by now.

We had such a blast shooting their springtime engagement photos.  Shining sun, green grass, and a blossoming orchard?

That sounds like a recipe for hotness.

Aren’t they cute??  We can’t WAIT for their July wedding!

Yummy backlight?  Yes, please.

Once we were done in the orchard, we hit the streets and worked the urban vibe.

This is my favorite photo of the whole entire day!  I *heart* everything about it.

You do too, right?

Right.

We worked some of our new techniques into our shoot with Ryan and Mercedes and I think they turned out pretty awesome!

A different feel, no?  We’re loving the variety that off-camera lighting is giving us.  It makes for two very happy photographers! :)

HOWEVER.

These are NOT two happy photographers. :(

It may not look like it, but that wind is a sneaky little devil and it started to pick up as soon as we busted out the umbrella.  I almost blew away.  Kind of like Mary Poppins.

Le umbrella decided to self destruct instead.

BUT, the photos turned out so awesome that it was totally worth it.  Yay for awesome photos with awesome clients!!

We can totally buy a new umbrella…

Kibby & Colin – Engaged!

CAUTION!!  LOTS O’ PHOTOS AHEAD!!

Have you ever met two people and said to yourself, “They belong together.”  That’s exactly how I feel about Kibby and Colin.  It’s a rare and refreshing thing when you see two people so in love that nothing else in this world matters to them except the other.  And for us to have the chance to witness that kind of love?  Well…it’s a privilege.

To top it off, these two are INCREDIBLY photogenic.  Add that to their amazing bond and their no-holds-barred attitude in front of the camera and you’ve got two extremely giddy photographers.  We seriously drove away from this session in awe.

We certainly love all of our clients and we have a blast with every single one of them, but our afternoon with Colin and Kibby was amazing.  We had so much fun shooting them and we ended the day feeling inspired.  I’m so excited to share their photos with you.  When I sat down to choose the photos I wanted to blog, I was faced with a daunting task.  Where on earth do I start?!?!  There are just too many I have to show off, so you’ll just have deal with it.  Enjoy!

I want you to notice Kibby’s eyes in these photos.  She has got the most piercing gaze that kills me every time.  I LOVE it!!

I *heart* this photo.  If this doesn’t say I’m-so-excited-to-be-in-love, I don’t know what does.

If you could hear my inner monologue as I scroll through these photos, it would probably go something like this:

“Awww.  Love.”

“Are you KIDDING me?!  I love it.”

“So sweet and tender.”

“They are so hot!  I LOVE THEM!”

“Sigh…swoon…”

Check out Kibby’s bling!  It is so unique, I just LOVE it.  I admire a girl who dares to be different.

I know you’ve already seen this photo, but I love it so much.  I just had to show it off again.

This is one of my FAVORITE spots.  I stumbled upon it by total accident and what a lucky accident it was.  It’s such a blink-and-you-miss-it place, but I think it looks incredible.  All the textures with the bricks, bars, and windows plus the natural light streaming in…it’s like a photographer’s dream.  (Although I have to admit, it’s a little SCARY!  I was totally afraid a homeless guy might pop up from the basement and chase us off!)

*Sigh*  I’m running out of adjectives.  Hawt.  Period.

Before we go any further, I have to take a second to brag about our clients.  We’ve been so lucky with all the people we’ve worked with over the past couple years.  We’re always coming up with crazy ideas and it’s so much fun to have clients who dive right into it with us.  (Albeit with the occasional raised eyebrow :) )

Kibby and Colin are no exception.  I was looking around our dirty, little alley and happened to look up.  I noticed an old, neglected fire escape above us and wondered aloud if it still worked.  Colin immediately climbed onto a windowsill, jumped up to grab the ladder, and swung it down to the ground.  He and Kibby then promptly marched to the top and awaited their instructions.

We were stoked (and a little scared of trespassing charges), but we climbed up after them.

Ok, I lied a little.  Not wanting to tempt the fates anymore then we already had and not knowing how much weight this rickety, old thing could hold, I kept my feet firmly on the ground.  But, Aubrey worked her magic, as always.  They totally didn’t need me.

The risk was so worth it.  (Easy for me to say, right ;)   If they hadn’t climbed 20 feet in the air, risked their lives, and a possible jail sentence, we would never have been able to see this awesome background.  Throw in two awesome people and you’ve got one TOTALLY awesome photo.

We love doing urban, downtown photo shoots.  There are always new places to find and adventures to be had.  We can shoot the same city over and over again, and we always find something different.

Why hello, Mr. Tunnel-through-an-office-building.  You make an awesome backdrop.

Thank you for tagging this wall, Mr. Gang Banger.  My clients look really hot nestled up against it.

And last, but certainly not least:  Thank you, Mr Parking Garage, for giving me my two favorite shots of the day.  Although, I think Colin and Kibby did all the work here.  It takes talent and some serious good looks to make a concrete building look hot, but they totally did.

So, there you have it.  Now do you feel my pain?  Are there ANY of these photos you could have beared to leave out?? I didn’t think so.

And it gets better!  We just finished up Kibby and Colin’s bridal/groomal shoot, so stay tuned for that.  It’s hot, hot, hot!  (Literally and figuratively.)

All that’s left now is the actual wedding day itself and it’s less than a month away!  It’s bound to be chock full of all the awesomeness you’ve witnessed here today.  We can’t wait!

Nikki & Mike – Engaged!

Meet Nikki and Mike.  They are totally awesome.  Don’t believe me?

Just check out their totally awesome, hometown engagement shoot.  We had SUCH a blast with these two!  Engagement shoots are my favorite thing in the world and Nikki and Mike sure helped us remember why we love doing what we do!

When discussing locations for their shoot, we urged Mike and Nikki to think of a place that held a special meaning to them.  They decided to keep things simple and chose their hometown, good ol’ Pleasant Grove.  What could be more perfect than the town you grew up in, went to school in, met the love of your life in…

We explored Main Street and ended up discovering the neatest nooks and crannies that we’ve never noticed before!  (PG is mine and Aubrey’s hometown too!) We definitely learned a lesson from this shoot.  Sometimes the best locations are right under your nose.  You just have to open your eyes and look!

Can you tell we fell in love with this brick wall?  Well…we did.

It also helps that Nikki & Mike are ROCKING it.  That’s one good lookin’ couple, no?

Now, you know you’ve got some hot clients when they can make a boring, old shed look ssssssmokin!

My favorite shot of the day!  I suppose I can thank the pioneers for the backdrop.  If I’m not mistaken, this cabin is a restored version of the homes built by the first settlers of Pleasant Grove.  Who knew historical sites could be so awesome?!

So.  Nikki and Mike are awesome.  Do you believe me yet?

If not, don’t you worry.  We’ve got lots more to come with these two!  Stay tuned for bridal/groomal photos and, of course, the wedding day!!

Rachel & Taylor – Engaged!

Meet Rachel and Taylor. A fun-loving, adventurous, drop dead gorgeous couple! We had so much fun shooting their engagement photos a few weeks ago. I don’t think they could have picked a better day. The weather was gorgeous and it was the perfect time of year for a Provo Canyon photo shoot.

We started off the shoot at one of our favorite locations, Sundance! Everywhere we turned we saw beautiful fall leaves bathed in gorgeous sunlight.

Does this place look familiar? Taylor loved this location so much, he begged us to take him there as well. I’m glad we obliged, because these photos turned out HOT!

Then we headed down the canyon a bit and stopped at Vivian Park for a few more. I loooove all the colors in this photo. Mother Nature makes such a good backdrop.

It’s hard to pick a favorite photo from this session, but this one is a pretty strong candidate! I think it is so gentle and tender, but sexy at the same time.

*Sigh* I loooooove our Utah mountains. And this just might be my favorite pose ever.

We finished off the day at our brand new, super top secret, best location EVER.   Ok, it’s not really top secret, but we’ve been looking for a place like this forever and we FINALLY found it. It has all the criteria we need. A wide open field with no buildings or houses behind it. It can’t be private property, because we don’t like to be arrested for trespassing. And, it has to be relatively close to us. We don’t like driving for hours if we don’t have to.  Places like this aren’t exactly a dime a dozen in North Utah County, so imagine our excitement when we stumbled across this place.  Rachel and Taylor were the lucky couple who got to break it in for us.

Here’s my advice for the day:  Make friends with senior citizens.  They know stuff.  Like awesome locations for photo shoots.

Needless to say, it was a great shoot.  Rachel and Taylor?  You guys are totally awesome.  Thanks for a killer day.

Shelly & Danny – Engaged!

I love shooting engagement sessions. LOVE. It’s such a privilege for me to witness the love and excitement of a new couple who are ready to start their life together. The moments they share together are so real and special.

Shelly and Danny are no exception. I had such a fun afternoon with these two as we hit the streets of downtown Provo. They were so comfortable and easy to work with; a photographer’s dream! Not to mention they couldn’t stop smiling and kissing and doing other cute, engaged people things. And you know how I love that!

Totally unprompted from me. I seriously love these two.

This might be my favorite brick wall ever.

It is spots like this that make me LOVE doing urban shoots. You never know the cool locations you’ll stumble upon. I already have a love affair with graffiti, but this wall might be my most favorite ever!

You’re always bound to get a few gawking passersby, so I tend to exploit our couples. Embrace the staring strangers! You’re in love, so let’s show it off!

Again with the cool locations you just stumble upon. I love, love, love the brick and the shape of the doorway.

After exploring downtown, Shelly and Danny took me to Rock Canyon Park just as the sun was going down. This is where they shared their first kiss, so it was the perfect location to wrap up the shoot.

This photo was a special request from Danny. He wanted a dramatic silhouette of him and his girl. I’ve got to hand it to you Danny. It turned out awesome!

Well, you two, the wedding day is almost here! I hope it’s a beautiful day for you. Thanks for such a fun afternoon!

Brittani & Jake – Engagements

We spend a hot, hot, HOT afternoon with Brittani and Jake hanging out at the Heber train station, and had a blast! Jake is from Heber and it’s also where he and Brittani will live after their upcoming September wedding. The train station is such a fun place…lots of fun things to shoot with, in, and around!

We had so much fun with these two. They did the “don’t look at the camera…pretend we aren’t even here!” thing so well. There are so many cute, nuzzle-y, intimate shots of them…my favorite!

http://flickr.com/photos/therobisonexperiment/2798404811/

So cute…

On the way home from the train station, we stopped at a little meadow near the lake and happened upon some gorgeous light!

And my absolute favorite from the day:

Thanks for the fun, you two! (and thanks for being such troopers in the heat…you guys rock!) Everyone else…stay tuned for the bridal shoot, coming soon. I can tell you it was shot in the most amazing backyard I have ever seen….complete with a lake, waterfalls, streams, and lots of beautiful landscape. You don’t want to miss it!

Ashley & Sean – Part I

Hang on tight! This was a marathon photoshoot. Engagement session, bridal session, and family session all in one. (Okay, not all in one. But all in the same day!)

Aubrey and I spent the day with Ashley and Sean, and Sean’s three darling little girls. We all had a blast on our 3 in 1 photoshoot at Sundance. (Yes, film festival Sundance.)
We were a little nervous by the rainclouds that were threatening us on the way up there, but by the time we started shooting, the weather could not have been more perfect. All the photos taken outside were 100% natural light.

See what I mean? Totally gorgeous light. (These two aren’t bad either.)

We actually started off the shoot inside one of the lodges. We had to take advantage of the awesome architecture.

I loooove this green wall.

Then back outside for some more yummy light portraits.
I am amazed by this photo. Ashley and Sean needed almost NO retouching at all! I changed this photo to black & white and that’s about it. The total gorgeous-ness is all them.

Soooo, yeah. Do you think these two might have a little bit of a connection?

Just a little?

This is one seriously hot couple. Add a seriously hot location and dang, you’ve got an awesome photo.

We will so being shooting at Sundance again. Even if just for this building and its AWESOME window.

Oh yeah, we can’t forget the rock!

Sean, you made a good choice. It’s beautiful!

We finished up this phase of our photoshoot right as the last bit of sun was peeking around the mountain. The perfect light and this gorgeous pair made for my favorite shot of the day.

Stay tuned. Parts II and III are coming your way!
