Ryanne and Braden have made several appearances here on the ELM blog. You may remember them from here and here. Ryanne was our first bride ever to include the groom in her bridal portraits – a trend that has become VERY popular in wedding photography. Such a trendsetter, that Ryanne.
Now, I’m not going to lie. A family session of an entire extended family is not always the most exciting thing for us to shoot. Trying to get 15+ people posed and ready while maintaining a semblance of creativity is not an easy feat. Add to the fact that it can sometimes be challenging to get this many people looking coordinated without looking matchy-matchy (read: khaki pants and white shirts!) and a huge family session can be quite an obstacle.

Enter Ryanne. This girl has an eye for style and creativity! We planned this shoot very last minute, and everyone still showed up looking great!

We were forecasted to get snow all day long on the day we were supposed to shoot. Rescheduling wasn’t an option – one of the sisters and her family had flown in for the day only! We were crossing all our fingers that our fun farm location wouldn’t become a wet, muddy winter wonderland. The weather gods apparently heard our prayers…it was a little chilly, but we had blue skies and no snow!

We also got to be a part of another fun chapter in Ryanne’s life. She and Braden had recently found out that she was pregnant…and she hadn’t told a soul yet! We chatted the day before and she let me in on the secret. When we got her family posed for our last group shot, I said, “okay…on the count of three, everyone yell RYANNE IS PREGNANT!”

Needless to say, her entire family was thrilled. Her mom even got a little teary, as proud Grandmas are supposed to do!
