Davis Family – extended!

Ryanne and Braden have made several appearances here on the ELM blog. You may remember them from here and here. Ryanne was our first bride ever to include the groom in her bridal portraits – a trend that has become VERY popular in wedding photography. Such a trendsetter, that Ryanne.

Now, I’m not going to lie. A family session of an entire extended family is not always the most exciting thing for us to shoot. Trying to get 15+ people posed and ready while maintaining a semblance of creativity is not an easy feat. Add to the fact that it can sometimes be challenging to get this many people looking coordinated without looking matchy-matchy (read: khaki pants and white shirts!) and a huge family session can be quite an obstacle.

Enter Ryanne. This girl has an eye for style and creativity! We planned this shoot very last minute, and everyone still showed up looking great!

We were forecasted to get snow all day long on the day we were supposed to shoot. Rescheduling wasn’t an option – one of the sisters and her family had flown in for the day only! We were crossing all our fingers that our fun farm location wouldn’t become a wet, muddy winter wonderland. The weather gods apparently heard our prayers…it was a little chilly, but we had blue skies and no snow!

We also got to be a part of another fun chapter in Ryanne’s life. She and Braden had recently found out that she was pregnant…and she hadn’t told a soul yet! We chatted the day before and she let me in on the secret. When we got her family posed for our last group shot, I said, “okay…on the count of three, everyone yell RYANNE IS PREGNANT!”

Needless to say, her entire family was thrilled. Her mom even got a little teary, as proud Grandmas are supposed to do!

I have become Great Aunt Margie.

G1
So, is there anything worse than being a kid and seeing an old family friend (or, like your Great Aunt Margie) only to hear them exclaim, “Look how BIG you are! I remember when you were just little…blah blah blah”

Gah. I totally did it. I was THAT family friend. I know. I used to babysit these kids years ago. See the little one there? I remember when she was born, and I couldn’t believe how much she has grown! I know. Hopefully we had enough fun on the shoot to erase that little adult faux pas and keep me being the cool family friend!

G2

We took these photos in their beautiful backyard. There were so many cool spots to photograph in, I loved the entire thing!

This girl is sweet, fun and an amazing dancer. She is very dedicated to dancing and I can’t wait to see where she goes with it…big things are in store for her!

G6

This little lady had so much spunk. She definitely LOVED to pose, we had a blast together!@\

Twins!

When the mom of these two cuties contacted us about scheduling a shoot, we wanted something fun and different. Being winter, most of our outdoor locations are pretty dead looking or a little too hard to manage with 18 month old twins. Then we realized….why not take advantage of Utah’s awesome winters? (We are famous for our snow…)

Snow it was. These two showed up looking darling and ready to play!

Lee Family

This is the Lee Family. When Anne Lee heard we were shooting Kibby & Colin’s bridals at the lavender fields, she wanted in! It made for a long, hot day…but man it was worth it!

(This is Hazen. Never before have I felt like I captured the essence of a child’s personality more than I did right here. This is Hazen.)

Williams Family

We spent a cold winter afternoon with the cute Williams family. Luckily for us, even though it was cold there was no snow!

Mom had all the kids dressed to a T like little GAP models. And model they did!! The boys LOVED the camera and wanted to pose every chance they got.

Hello, beautiful eyes!!

Cute Mom & Daughter…

Check out the little flirty in the back. He was a crack up the entire shoot. He had so many ideas on where he should stand and who should be in each photo…as soon as he saw that camera lens he turned the charm on!

We got some gorgeous, warm sunlight. Mid afternoon in the winter is so pretty!

And for something fun and a little different:

Thanks for a fun (and cold!) afternoon guys! you were so much fun to run around with, and your adorableness (is that a word?) makes our job VERY easy!!

Jarrett Family

I am playing a bit of blog catch-up, so expect to see lots of new posts in the coming days! I’ll try to space them out a little so you’re not wow-ed out all at once! :)

Remember B? I spent an afternoon with the whole family this time. This little girl is growing up so fast, and is quite the busy body! She wanted nothing to do with posing or sitting still…it was a warm fall day with leaves and too much to play with and look at! She makes the cutest expressions, though, so it all seems to work out in the end.

Look at this sweet face, and amazing eyes!

The Family

We started the day with the Family session so we could get the girls photographed before they got *too* dirty from playing!

Little B had just been woken up from a nap and was not happy about having her pictures taken. She is such a daddy’s girl and wanted nobody but him.

We decided to let her take a break to wake up and get used to the idea a little. Aren’t these two darling? Unlike B, they loved having their photo taken and would pose all day for me!

After running around and playing with her Daddy a little, B was in a great mood and had a great time!

Sean is so cute with the girls. They all have him wrapped around their little fingers.

Ashley with her soon-to-be daughters (who LOVE her almost as much as they love daddy)

Thanks for hanging out with us all day, guys! You have a beautiful family!

Happy Holidays!

We deeply apologize for our blog absence. We’ve both had a great holiday season and now it’s time to get back to business.

Here’s just a few from a November photoshoot, the Sundstrom Family.
(Can I just make a little note here? Our job is so easy when we have such gorgeous people to photograph. Seriously, aren’t they a great looking family?!)
Not to mention our gorgeous location!! We started out at Sundance and then moved inside for a few studio shots.
They were an awesome family and we really enjoyed their photoshoot.
